The Hudson Valley is pretty cool if you can get out of your head that 200 miles of the Hudson River - from the Battery to Fort Edward, NY - is a Superfund site.

Tarrytown is one of my fav places in NY. Rhinebeck is great too. Lots of great villages and towns along the Hudson.

My colleague, who grew up in a village in Africa, asked me to explain the definition of 'village' in New York. He is baffled by the fact that the are no unpopulated areas in between the villages, they all just run together.
