it was because of david chang...

then again david chang is hawking audis these days:

seriously though? i think it was because of this brutal winter... ramen (or any good soup and noodle dish) is a perfect winter meal.

Also even slightly above average ramen is so very good and its so very very hard to find in Manhattan, so the confluence of David Chang fanboys + cold assed unrelenting winter = people who want ramen.

Ed, I am disappoint frown.gif

I've never waited more than 20 minutes for ramen and the times I did wait was for a $12 bowl. If it's a long line/wait I just go with my backup plan of another ramen place or something spicy and hearty like Indian food.

I dated this girl in the West Village years ago. Her parents paid for this awesome apartment for her, but she never had any money. She just had cabinets filled the "Cup of Noodles".

Why would they pay for her apartment but not give her an allowance?

Smalltimers.
Why does she not have any money, though
The same reason most people with no money don't have it. She didn't fucking work.

To the bend in Doyers ("the bloody angle"), down the steps and past the buddah w/ the burned-down-butt/glass-of-cold-tea offering. Great food & prices - we ate there regularly for 10+ years, assuming it would always be there....butbut.gif

Interesting from wiki:

Early in the century, the bend in the street became known as "the Bloody Angle" because of numerous shootings among the Tong Gangs of Chinatown that lasted into the 1930s.[4] Hatchets were frequently used, leading to the creation of the expression, "hatchet man".[4] In 1994, law enforcement officials said that more people died violently at the "Bloody Angle" than at any other street intersection in the United States.[5]
