Reasons why New York Sucks - Page 398

I bet NYC has hundreds of good dim sum places. That's one thing Piob-town really lacks is good dim sum. Crappy Windsor, Ontario has dozens of great dim sum but that's due to 1/3 of the university being exchange students from the Orient.

I find NYC Chinese food to be not all that. The good places are the white tablecoth places like Shun Lee and Mr. K's, but they are expensive. There was an awesome Chinatown dive called Canton (on the dirtiest block in the city) that was fantastic and dirt cheap but it closed. No idea why, it was always packed. Lycee House is not bad and quite a bit cheaper than Shun Lee. I never go to C-Town any more.

Up where I am in W'Chester there was a fantastic place called Hunan Village that was sold, went downhill, then the original owner bought it back, "re-imagined" it, but it's just not good any more (and it's still very expensive). Then we had a great dim sum shop in our village which was fantastic but closed within like three months. Then it reopened, again as a dim sum shop, but with a different name and new decor, but now it sucks.

You have to know where to go. Apparently all of the great places are in the outer boroughs.

Dammit

I had no clue Num Pang was around, let alone around the block from where I live. Apparently I walk by it every day.

I'm with gome, I also have never seen or been to a sushi place that you indicate your order by checking on a piece of paper either.

I work around the corner from Num Pang and I never heard of it until Gome as well.

i can't be the sole bearer of tasty sandwiches here

Arg, now I really regret not having tried Num Pang when I was up there this weekend. I decided to get Ivan Ramen instead. It wasn't bad but just a complete ripoff (which I'd heard about and anticipated, but the portion still surprised me).

i still don't understand the ramen craze. Yeah, it's a bowl of damn delicious soup. It's also $20 and a 60 minute wait.

Almost as dumb as the frozen yogurt craze.
