Funny, for all my bitching, I don't find the city that dirty. Of course it helps that I am always in the swanky parts, but presumably that's what they are rating, no? I mean the rating is not based on what Soundview or Bronwnsville look like presumably.

I think you only need to walk through Chinatown once a year for that trauma to stick forever

I'm not sure if they all go up this way but I watched one go up on the building across from mine and the balancing act these dudes were doing putting up the skeleton on thin boards without having their harnesses attached to anything was nerve wracking. Especially once they got up around the 6th floor. No one could pay me any amount of cash to do that job.

The premise of the show is ridiculous. There's no reason that a bunch of 20 year old interns working at galleries in completely different art enclaves selling very different types of art would hang out with each other and go to events at each others galleries.

"I'm a lifestyle coach, she sells designer clothes at her street art store and that other girl works for a contemporary Chinese gallery...so naturally we're all here at the midweek auction of high-run Damien Hirst prints that for some reason is being officiated by the head of the auction house who is also on another Bravo TV show."

OK, the idea that SF is better than new york for shopping or food is a joke. Public trans there also sucks. The glory of SF is the setting. And the weather, which is part of the setting. The old California progressive Bostonian culture was great too but that's mostly gone.

It's been a while, but ya it's awful.

I remember in 1999 I made my wife go down to Canton with me (now closed), on that street that leads to the manhattan bridge, and even I was repulsed by how dirty the area was. I think she was going to faint before we got inside.
