What a great day in New York!!
Was 100000000000% humidity all day, despite nominal temps in the 70s, felt like the 100s.
The rain was, as ever, perfectly timed. Got a terrefic soaking to and from the train which stopped when I reached my office and it stayed dry the rest of the day. But a real monsoon kicked up just as I had to leave. Thankfully it was a short walk to the subway, and a slightly longer walk to the other end, only enough to soak me to the knee. Had dinner and watched the rain pour like Noah's flood for about 1.5 hours thinking "This can't possibly last."
But oh yes it could! Still pouring when I had to leave. Cabs impossible to get, walked 700 blocks to the subway. Despite a truly gargantuan umbrella, it protected me only from earlobe to earlobe, the rain was so dense and the wind was blowing it sidewaays.
Made to the subway but completely soaked. Then to GC. But hey still underground!
Well the first train from GC didn't leave. Some kind of problem. OK, everybody off, take the local in 30 minutes, meanwhile stand around and sweat in the sauna because we are not going to open the doors, and even if we did, that would avail you nothing since the AC is not on! hahahaha
Two full complements of people cram into one train and just sweat the entire way up, one stop at a time. Finally, mine arrives, after all that time, and has the rain stopped or even let up? Oh hell no! This is Singapore .... I mean New York.
Get soaked through once again walking home. Shoes ruined, suit ruined, shirt soaked but at least it can take it, tie ruined.
But it's all worth it to live in the "capital of the world" because all the people worth living live here, don't you know, and if you don't that alone is proof that you are shit!
