First off I'm seeing everyday on almost every line I take. Today, three guys piled on with four conga drums. Do you know how much room three guys and four drums take up? And how loud that is? People couldn't exit through the doors they were blocking. Fast enough.

Subway cops really need to keep this stuff on the platform.

Twice in the past week I have had four panhandlers on the same train in as many stops. Literally one off, one on. Nuts.

To get home from La Guardia, I took a bus 17 stops, then the 7 train about 8 stops, then had to get off and take a shuttle bus to connect to the other part of the 7/G train due to construction, which I then rode for about 8 or 9 stops. Then I walked home lugging my bags. That seems excessive.

going forward: do a $35 cab ride. Terminal to door.

If it's cold/shitty out I try to arrange a car to pick me up at the airport, especially if I have a lot of luggage or I'm with others. The headache of getting to/from the airports is pretty incredible sometimes.

Definitely. It is insane that it is so hard to get to/from our airports on public transit.

Even worse than this is the fact that the PATH closes at 10PM now.

What better way to kill my night than to have to rush to the trains before the night even starts.

+1. Simple. Who takes mass transit home from the airports in NY???
I used to do the airport to Grand Central bus for $15 or so one-way. Then I'd get on the subway.

meh, taxi is just far easier and faster. Plus, if it's the wife and I, the cost difference is too negligible to matter.

i thought they're back to 24 hours on some routes? Either way, the WTC station was closed all weekend, I had to go to Jersey City for something.

It's clear that the MTA did a much better job of getting back on track fast.

Agreed. The train from Newark is the only one that remotely makes sense, and then only if your destination is Midtown on a weekday during business hours (when the tunnels will be a sh*tshow).

I try to fly out of Newark if I can. I live fairly close to Penn so taking the train isn't too bad. JFK to a similar extent as well. LGA is a complete shit show. I've taken the M60 and that's a long bus ride...

To be fair, they are all shit shows. The only exceptions are the JetBlue terminal at JFK and the new Delta gates at LGA. But even with those, you have to go to the third world countries that are LGA and JFK, so it still sucks.

ffffuuuu.gif at NY airports.

Oh, I was only referring to transportation to/from the airports.

The Continental terminal at Newark isn't TOO bad, Terminal 5 for Jet Blue at JFK is great whereas whatever terminal Virgin America flies out of is a MESS. I've yet to do Delta out of LGA but everything else there has been crap...

Well, I include the transportation to/from in my hatred for NY airports. Everything about them is awful.
