With Manton out of the city for this heatwave and pBooth apparently MIA, we're missing the usual center of complaining gravity.

I've not read this thread so these may be repeats:

• greasy pizza

• no dancing in bars

• rats

• manhattan = giant business park/food court

• cockroaches

• too easy to like it

• no sunsets

For that last one, you just need an apartment in one of those fancy new residential skyscrapers.

No, but we did do hamburgers, IIRC.

• no dancing in bars
Oh, please. This is SF.

• rats
Yes, lots. Lefty has turned them into a hobby.

• manhattan = giant business park/food court
There was some complaining about food trucks. No one complains about Manhattan. Almost everyone except for Manton and Lefty are hipsters and live in Brooklyn. Manton lives in Connecticut or someplace like that and Lefty is so happy not to be in SanFo that he hardly complains at all anymore.

• cockroaches
Not that I recall, though I may have blocked it out. The rats were bad enough.

lefty is up in the Catskills for a week picking blackberries for breakfast.

Nothing to complain about.

I was born in Manhattan, currently live on the border of NoMad and Chelsea, and work in Meatpacking.

How else do you have a NY if not for a little bit of grease? I've been liking mine thrown back in the oven for a minute to crisp up the crust at those hole in the wall joints.

I've yet to come across a bar that said no dancing. Sure no dancing on tables, booth benches, and bars... I guess the lounges like NOMAD elephant bar, Raine's Law Room, Flatiron Room, etc would probably ask you to tone it down.

Manhattan has been stinking to high hell lately. Everyone parks in the god damn bike lanes forcing me out into traffic, fuckers. Peds still don't look, even in the direction of the oncoming traffic, when they jaywalk across a bike lane. Cyclists still go the wrong way on streets. All the construction and tearing up of the cobblestone streets around my office blows. Scaffolding always sucks. Restaurants with busted AC in this weather are a death sentence. Panhandlers and methadone junkies all over per usual. Subway performers that I've seen are generally getting worse. Getting back into the city on Sunday is getting worse and worse.

I've just gotten so used to all of this that it doesn't especially stand out to me. I do go upstate quite often so maybe that's what keeps me relatively sane.

More like subway cars (esp. the 7th Ave lines) with busted AC.  So hot that the subway performers (apparently) took a break this past weekend.

Although today isn't so bad, my least favorite part about this weather is it pretty much forces me to dress like a middle manager (dress shirt and chinos/light weight wool pants). Anything more is pretty intolerable.

Are we going to have to add the Chitari to our list of things that suck about NY?
