My 'hood is slated to get some. May get a membership if that happens. They are doing a $25 off promo if you subscribe before month end. Think I am going to wait for them to physically roll out in my hood though to see how many bikes there are when I need them.

I've pondered it, though I do have my own bike down here now. Rode from home to the farmer's market on Sunday, and what is usually quite a hike ended up taking like 2 minutes on the bike.

Guys I'm in the windy apple visiting my sis for a week. Where is "needle park"? I wanna see what the "panic" is all about. Sounds neat

Sherman square - 70th and Amsterdam. There's nothing to see really - it's a tiny patch.

The movie is a classic but the moniker has not been true for at lest 40 years.

Movie is hardly a classic. Nice flick..but not a classic.

Hi sorry to intrude here but I'm doing research on menswear forums for a doctoral dissertation and looking to interview Style Forum members in New York. I'll be there from Friday to Sunday if anyone is around and wants to make $50. More info on the research here:

I just saw a delivery guy running a red light across a four lane avenue.
On a skateboard.
In flip flops.

If you want to see present-day Needle Park look along the stairways going up from the parks just south of GWB.

Or the McDonalds on 8th and 35th, or anywhere around Port Authority really.

I think it's a classic of its genre. Early Pacino. One of Kitty Winn's few films (she was also in The Exorcist). Joan Didion, JG Dunn screenplay. All shot on location with few to no extras. A great "documentary" style look at New York at the bottom.

BTW, the "park" as it existed then really doesn't any more. It was a small triangle formed by the intersection of Broadway, Amsterdam and W70th. But street widenings have clipped its size down to next to nothing. You can't even walk in it any more. It's just a little fenced off patch.
