well the thread got derailed... its a quasi-parody thread about why NYC sucks. then someone mentioned how living in New Haven is desirable, and serious questions about ethnic food.

You spent 9 seconds timing yourself for a post that included 5 of those 9 seconds?

Man, after watching a doc last night about cell phone antennas, "full signal", I'm a bit spooked by the downtown of any city now. People are getting sick from this shit. At any moment one of these antennas can pop up outside your bedroom window and start pouring microwave radiation on you as you sleep.

Wherever these antennas start going up, cancer rates start to increase. NYC has these antennas all over now, and the cell carriers are starting to hide them inside of objects that look like AC housings, steeples, etc so you wont even know they're there.

This is from a small city in Turkey, it maps just the increase in cancer cases and overlays the locations of cell phone antennas:

Between global warming and cell towers what kind of a chance does a guy have?

Well at least Bloomberg will protect you.

Of course this is a known fact but damn NYC is so freaking expensive lol. I can't see anyone living comfortably here without making a six figure salary.

I guess Dallas' low COL has spoiled me.

Also, anyone been to the meatball shop in the LES? AMAZINGNESS HOLY SHIT

There are four other boroughs outside Manhattan. If you really wish to experience an alternate universe in NYC, travel to the South Shore of Staten Island. The population is almost entirely white, middle-class, and votes Republican en masse. The latter is a complete anomaly even for New York State!

How do you define middle class in manhattan? $200-300k per year but struggling?
Probably, figuring that a decent school is 30-40K a year, 200K isn't going to carry you far with two children.

Quoted for partial truth. I live in one of the most popular breeder neighborhoods in NYC (non-Manhattan), and 200k HHI seems like an accurate entry point.

I'd agree. I wouldn't consider trying to raise children in this city unless my HHI was *at least* 300k.

every year, thousands of college grads move to NYC with a non-six figure salary, and if you ever visit Murray Hill they seem quite comfortable.

They still deposit checks from Mom and Dad, who also signed as guarantors for their apartment.
