Two suits... your thoughts please

Pics 1 and 3 are of a charcoal 'pindot' that I feel looks the best on me of the two. Don't know if you can see the brown shoes... too much?

Two and four are of a darker charcoal light pinstripe (again, not sure how well it shows up). I think the shoulders are too big. Thoughts? If shoulders are too big to some of you, a decent 'backup' suit until I can get a similar/slimmer one?

All comments welcome, thanks for looking...

The shoulders are too big on the second suit. I like the fit of the first suit. And I like the shoes with it.

You may be able to get away with the suit. It is hard to tell because your arms are out. You may just want to take it back and get a smaller size. That way you won't be the guy that somedays everyone thinks "wow, thats a well dressed man" and other days just be the average, unknowing suit wearer.

You can try wearing the jacket unbuttoned, it may help with the shoulders until you get a different one.

Thanks for the reply jbernard... you validate what I was thinking. Can't take it back, it's actually a couple of years old. An example of allowing an unknowing sales associate to fit me in a suit that's too big! I agree the first one fits me well--I'm pretty pleased with that one, and in fact, am going to pick up a second pair of pants for it today, as I intend on keeping that one for a while.

I think I'll take the second one and donate to one of those men's suit drives. It's actually a nice looking suit and would look good on someone with broader shoulders than me.

Sorry for the crappy picture quality, my ghetto phone takes pretty weak pictures :)

Not too bad, the trousers of the first maybe a tad short although that could be posture. You will certainly not be ashamed in moist places these days.

Pictures/posture are not really suitable for detail review.

Agree... i was sort of stooping to get into the frame of the mirror. The pants length is actually a little longer than represented there. When I get my navy suit back from tailoring, I'll have my wife take some shots of both of them for you guys to give me feedback.

And at my age... I'm never ashamed to get into moist places whenever I can!

First suit looks good, pants do not look too long to me, but, as GBR said, difficult to give detailed fit critiques with those photos.
