Ill-fitting oxfords

the size is right, even a bit too long and wide, but the top does not close neatly, not near. what is wrong here? is that the 'instep' or a different exotic measure?

thanks for the answers

anyone, please...

You have a high instep is all - I've not got one but I've never really felt they constituted "ill-fitting", merely differently fitting. As long as they're comfortable around the foot and don't slip or anything they're fine.

I don't know any brands that fit well for people with high insteps - maybe someone could post some.

It's normal to have a V. If the shoe fits well elsewhere, there's no reason to worry about it.

How come?

I have the same problem, but mine close slightly more. I prefer derby lacing because it's not as obvious

On a brand new oxfords I usually have a “ V” for first few weeks. As I wear them they stretch and close the gap nicely. Try to tie the laces really tight ; it will help the stretching.
And nothing wrong with the V – but your V looks a bit too wide IMO.
