IDK if this is the right place to put this heads up, but I've been looking to try out eShave and get my bristle on. Today they have a special where you can get the brush, stand, razor, extra blades and an assortment of potions for less than just the stand goes for on eShave.

It's a good deal, but I wish they came with a double-edge safety razor instead.

I haven't tried one of those. It reminds me of my dad. Do you mean the ones where you replace just the blades?

Yes, one of these:

700

The razor itself will cost you more, but the blades are very inexpensive. So in the long run, you end up saving a lot of money over buying replacement heads from companies like Gillette. Pro-tip, if you have Amazon PRIME you can get them shipped for free as needed. That's what I do and the average cost is less then 25 cents per blade and they each last two shaves.

I used to get bad ingrown hairs from shaving on my neck. Once I switched, the problem went away. Don't get nearly as many nicks either.

Pretty cool looking. I just might try one out. I hope it fits in the stand I ordered!

There are tons of good resources for tips and information on this style of shaving online. Do a little research first to make sure you get something that's a good fit. Some of these razors are a lot more "aggressive" then others and I wouldn't touch one of those if you are just starting out. :)

Good post, Mouse.

BTW: the eShave Avocado Linden soap is one of the best I've ever used.

Thanks! I'll do my leg-w... er... finger-work online before I buy anything.

My forvm secret santa gave me this a couple years ago. It really doesn't have any info you couldn't dig up online, but it's nice to have it all at hand. Reasonably priced too.

EDIT: Even if you don't switch to a double-edge safety, you are going to love the shaving brush. Working up a good lather using a quality soap is the best part of wet shaving anyways. :)

HMMM, mine was a pale beige color and I only had one scent option (Linden). Then again I got it at closeout a few years back so perhaps they repackaged and all that - I'd hate to think they reformulated it, though. It was a dead ringer for the Provence Sante Verlaine soap which is another fantastic soap.

Oh, I remember that guy. He got kicked out of Badger and Blade for promoting his blog and book. I thought he made a bigger production of shaving than I generally do, but he knows his stuff.

Have only browsed Badger and Blade for info. Don't even have an account there.

I used to post there like a mad dog. Bought and sold (mostly bought, holy cow), helped develop the soap tutorial, got caught up in the Acquisition Disorders and finally quit the site when I realized it was largely AD-driven. That, and the Main Mang kinda upset me with his bully pulpit posts and threads where he promoted a few custom razor makers and denigrated the rest. It got a bit ugly at that point, and I also realized that I had no business handling a $900 straight razor anyway. All my razors together didn't cost that.
