The razor itself will cost you more, but the blades are very inexpensive. So in the long run, you end up saving a lot of money over buying replacement heads from companies like Gillette. Pro-tip, if you have Amazon PRIME you can get them shipped for free as needed. That's what I do and the average cost is less then 25 cents per blade and they each last two shaves.
I used to get bad ingrown hairs from shaving on my neck. Once I switched, the problem went away. Don't get nearly as many nicks either.
There are tons of good resources for tips and information on this style of shaving online. Do a little research first to make sure you get something that's a good fit. Some of these razors are a lot more "aggressive" then others and I wouldn't touch one of those if you are just starting out.
My forvm secret santa gave me this a couple years ago. It really doesn't have any info you couldn't dig up online, but it's nice to have it all at hand. Reasonably priced too.

EDIT: Even if you don't switch to a double-edge safety, you are going to love the shaving brush. Working up a good lather using a quality soap is the best part of wet shaving anyways.
