Kicking Mule Stretching?

So I'm leaning towards picking up a pair Kicking Mule Workshop 1980 Skinny in Raw. My only other experience with "premium" denim is a pair of Nudies RRDG 31x34. The Nudies are about an inch too big in the waste, and I've yet to experience their maximum stretch (anyone interested?). How true in the waist is the Kicking Mule Workshop 1980 Skinny in Raw? And how much stretching can I expect? I'm trying to decide between a 29x34 or 30x34.

Thanks in advance.

I spoke to one of the founders and they told me that they will stretch 5-7% I bought the 1980 rinse in my side and I have to say that they stretched less than any jean that I have purchased in a while. That being said, jeans always stretch and it would depend on whether you were going to wash them or not. If not, buy them smaller.

I'm also interested in this company. I understand that they use Zimbabwean cotton and uses natural indigo dye. That would be a welcome addition in my denim collection. Are they sanforized? I'm a size 30/31 with minimal shrinkage, I should just get the 30 I guess. I just don't want the waist too tight. Thanks.

AFAIK, yes they are sanforized, and consensus is size down one unless you're looking for a roomier fit (they're not all that slim to being with). Both DenimBar and Self Edge carry them so they're good people to ask, or you can call Context Clothing in Madison with questions; they'll talk your ear off...

Made of Zimbabwean cotton, rope dyed in Natural Indigo, fabric produced and tailored in Okayama Prefecture Japan. Silver rivets and selvedge on the coin pocket There is not a huge difference between the 1980 and the rocker. From what I understand the bottom opening is slightly smaller and the rise is about 1/4 inch higher. They are hands down the best fitting jean I have purchased in years. The would stack the quality against anyones. As I said before the stretching is not as much as other denim I have owned. If you go to their website you can find a list of retailers carrying the product. there are a few retailers selling online.

I own the 1980s (chinese), and they are far from what I'd consider slim. They are one size up for me though. KMW is pretty high on my next purchase list right now though, based on what I hear of the new denim. I'll be sure to try out the Rocker (revolve lists them as a 37" inseam? awesome) and the 1980.

My waist is 30.75 and my Japanese 1980's in size 30 fit me perfectly in the waist. They haven't stretched all that much either, unlike my Nudies.

I got the jap 1980s, they're true to size, not that slim more like a straight leg, and stretch very little

For those that have said they stretch very little; how long have you had your pair?

I just picked up a pair of Japanese 1980's this weekend from Blake in PDX. I don't normally do the slimmer styles of other brands as they are generally too tight in the thigh. These seem to be a happy compromise, between straight and slim, they fit like a dream. not much stretching yet but they were a little uncomfortable in the waist when I first tried them on but after a few days of wear they are still tight but much more comfortable. I like them a lot so far, will post more as they break in.

I would say 5% is about right. Mine have stretched very little so far. MMD3 I am very glad you are happy with them so far.....

Not that long. I've worn them maybe ten times, but my RRDS stretched alot more in the same time frame. I doubt they'll stretch 5%. That would be 1.5" in the waist and I don't see that happening. I could be wrong though.

Well, I just received my 'Rocker" and it's really amazing! Thanks to Mauro of the Denim Bar and his very helpful staff. I ordered it on Monday and I received it today. I'm still getting used to the "Natural Dye Indigo" color as it's not as dark as I have initally expected. Again the fit is perfect!

Has anyone soaked these? I have a pair on the way and I'm wondering how much shrinkage to expect after soaking or eventually washing.

My assumption is that they won't shrink very much since they are sanforized, but I'm undecided on whether to cuff them or to have them hemmed.
