Everyday wear and tear...

Thread Starter

I was thinking of wearing these for everyday wear and tear and for casual also:

http://www.wolverine.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/29386M/0/Mens/Wickham-1000-Mile-Brogue-Oxford?dimensions=0

Not bad plus being 1000 miles you could expect alot from durability wise. I have a pair of mccalister from allen edmonds, but every wear I go I scuff a litle here and there...hate to see them get so scuffed over time I figured I would wear those once a year on special occassions and make the wolverine shoe my beater.

It's such a pain to turn off the security system and pull them out of the display case, so I get OP's point about only wearing them once a year.

OP, you might want to consider polishing the AEs occasionally. You could probably wear them monthly then. teacha.gif

Thats true, I keep forgetting the 14 digit security code, and dammit if the thumbprint scanner would work more reliably

Is there a question anywhere in the OP or is it stream of consciousness posting day?

Hey, that's a good point.  I was having them recrafted when they got scuffed, which was getting pretty expensive.  smile.gif

Yeah, joking versus trolling. Will he recraft the Wolverines when they get scuffed!

So you want to buy a pair of $275 shoes as "beaters" to protect your $335 shoes? You realize that's only a $60 difference, yeah? And what's to say that the 1000 miles would be any more resistant to scuffs and scratches? It would seem a little...oxymoronic... to buy $275 shoes and wear them around, beating them with scuffs and all, to protect your $335 shoes. I'd suggest one of two routes:

1) Buy true beaters, like $100 Cole Haans or J&M or some house brand, and wear them out. Literally, wear them until they break then repeat. Wear the Mc's on your chosen occassions.

2) Start a shoe collection and rotation so that you don't wear one shoe so much that it is constantly berated, but rather maybe each shoe is worn once a week and the life remains less-scuffed that much longer. And be careful with your shoes. Recognize what's on your feet and conduct your actions accordingly (i.e., no James Bond chases in your AEs).

Or, just do whatever you want.
