will look for the Montreals. never heard of those. or another color way of the glides...

She is looking for a shoe that I don't think exists. Her options are to get more Lunarglides, start liking Flyknits, switch soles, or wait to see if anything good is coming out.

this is pretty much what I've been telling her :fu:

Anyone have any suggestions for a women's running/training shoe for a picky (read: pain **********) wife? Here are her requirements:

Must have lunar sole
Lightweight and packable
Can hold up to semi serious training
Stylish - can also wear around town without looking like a goof - sort of a casual+training shoe that can be the one thing she packs on a trip
No flyknits. Don't ask me why :fu:

For reference, she currently trains in UC Lunarglides and likes them a lot. She asked me to find something more stylish than those...any thoughts?

Not really sure what she would consider "stylish" but there aren't many Nike training shoes with Lunar sole, especially for women. Depending on her foot size though, check out Mens Lunar Edge 15, the grey/volt colorway might pass as "stylish" to women?

Specific womens Nike though, I'd just suggest LunarRacers 3, again it really depends whether she finds them stylish or not but that is a good option for her to check out.

If you can somehow convince her to try free sole, the Free Bionic and Free Advantage 2 are Nikes women specific training shoe that I think is meant to be "stylish" as well as functional. It depends on how much running she does though, might not be suggested for long range runs.

Pretty funny/sad that we gotta buy boys' clothing for proper fitting shorts, haha. I tried on boys' Jordan shorts before and the length was nice. The regular ones on the other hand...go down to almost my calves. And the dudes who rock them sag so much, it looks like they have no legs.

For those who's touched/copped Nike gear from Nike directly (the more expensive stuff), do you feel a difference in quality compared to those items available at places like Macy's, Sport Chalet, etc.? I stopped by a Sport Chalet and saw they have Dri Fit tanks for $25. I copped tanks earlier from Niketown for about twice that, but the material feels completely different even though both were Dri Fit. The cuts were also different too. I never noticed/paid attention to this much, but Nike probably has tiers when it comes to clothing too, just like the $150 sneakers and the cheaper $70 version that sort of looks the same.

i usually get my dri-fit from marshalls and have never felt a difference between stuff i bought from nike. all the stuff has held up equally well and performed the same.

How's the selection there? I used to lurk the Ross, TJ Maxx, etc years ago for fitness gear and never found anything that's not a super large size. I used to go to the outlets after that and realized the savings were minimal, $5 or $10 off a $45 or $50 top but the colors would be wild as heck.

After going to Nike Running at the Grove in LA and Nike in SM, I settled for the training shorts. Inseam is 10". I'd prefer 8 or 9" but they're alright.

I shouldn't have ever come into this thread. Wallet is lighter now as well, haha.

the selection is solid. sometimes it is hit or miss. i usually go to outlets for shorts and get shirts and compression shorts from marshalls. the outlets in md have both crazy colors and some whites, blacks, grays, etc.

+1 on this thread man, between this and epaulet. im going to be so broke, lol

I buy my drifit stuff at the rack. Decent selection. I'm not too picky though.

I feel like there is definitely a difference in the marshalls **** compared to ndc not only in feel but appearance. I see lots of nike at my gym and a lot of them just look off or lack design details etc that my stuff has.

Would these fit the bill, or is she not into camo?

Thanks, man. It's still $160 though so 20% off that isn't much. I'm fairly sure they'll be at the outlets for $100 sooner or later like the others. I can wait. They'll just be gym shoes anyway. I'm sure these shoes are mass produced to the max because the construction is not as labor intensive so I can play the waiting game.

Yeah, dude....this is bad. I never thought I can spend this much money on workout gear, but I don't mind though, when it comes to fitness I'm willing to pay top bucks and it's only once in a year. Copped 3 more shirts today too :( Total is now 4 tanks and 4 shirts so I should be good until next year at least. Maybe several compression shorts and pants to replace my 3 yr old ones soon.

I thought it was a bigger waste when I shopped at the outlets and never wore the clothes because of the crazy colors, top would be like navy/orange and bottom would be baby blue/yellow, haha. Like you, for workout gear..I stay with the basic colors: gray and black mostly. I will never buy white again, it gets dull like no other.

Just need a jacket or two later on the line for the winter training around the hills.

Well it might not be a coincidence. I remember reading somewhere that companies like Jcrew, Brooks Brothers, etc. have their factories make clothes exclusively for their outlets. These clothes tend to have details which fall short of the original. Outlet stores aren't just stores which try to pawn off old merchandise, they're also a means to try to foist crap (defects/deliberately shittier quality) onto you. I honestly don't expect any less from a company like Nike.
