Shin injury

I've spent the last two weeks doing a lot of walking around, and now one of my shins is absolutely killing me. Actually, its not really my shin, well itis, but only the lower part; call it the first 3-4 inches of shin above the top of my foot.

Anyone know why, or what this is? (Is it just fatigue, or something more? The pain is pretty sharp, but only when I walk.)

sounds like shin splints - welcome to being old - at 20, you get those from running on concrete - at 45 you get them from walking on feathers. basically, nothing can be done but rest, talk to your doctor when you get home.

Thanks GT. (No matter our occasional disagreements, you always come through. In my book, you're one of the good guys.)

LARon,

happy to help.

might I suggest ( a friendly suggestion) a mental exersize - concerning some of our disagreements: I am not suggesting that you take my opinion at face value, but why not consider other elements of my background as possible contributing factors in the development of my positions? give it a thought.

Try adding arch support insoles in your shoes. Made a world of difference for me, as I have really high arches and was doing a lot of running on hard surfaces (outdoor jogging, indoor soccer...)

It helped reduce the load that my shins were under from always being on the balls of my feet.
