Need a good North York Tailor for a tricky leather jacket job - ideally not much past Steeles. ...

Sorry if this is one of those questions that's been asked before.  I've got a leather jacket that needs some moderately tricky work done on the collar and some maybe trickier work done on the armholes and sleeves.

I'd prefer to not go into Toronto itself.  Can anyone make suggestions for a trusty place that's not far south, east or west of Yonge and Steeles? Your help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Why am I thinking expecting the average tailor to work on leather isn't the best idea?

There used to be a group of leather shops on Spadina that made leather coats.

Won't kill you to enter the big bad city.

True.  I find the city kind of tiring, but I suppose you're right.  Okay - let's expand this: Can anyone make specific recommendations for a good tailor/alterationist that works with leather in North York or south of Steeles (aka, the big, the bad, the T, the Dot)? :D

I think you will be lucky if you find anyone willing to alter your leather jacket regardless of location. Sometimes you need special types of machines to sew leather and making adjustments on leather is totally different from working on cloth. Very limiting, what can be done.

Years ago I had a leather coat altered on Scollard in Yorkville - can't remember the name but he was on the south side in a half basement. Google search shows that it could be Gino Scarano.

Body and sleeves slimmed. He did a great job.

Paul's Tailors are not far and they do good alteration work, but I have never had anything done with leather. They are at Bathurst and the 401.

They mention leather work on their sign, but I'm not sure if it's related to cleaning/repairing or alterations. You should give them a call to see.

lefty and MRMan, thank you for your replies; I somehow missed that the thread was updated in my inbox.  I was just getting ready to head to Club 10 Tailors in Promenade mall (I read a couple of positive posts about them here) tomorrow or this week, but I may have to check out your recommendations, too.

Thanks!

Best Regards
