I recently bought some colored shoe laces from Kirby at The Hanger Project and I like them as a style statement, but I am just not sure how practical they are and I am curious what others on this forum might think on the topic, so I started a poll.

Also, if you have any pictures of your dress shoes with colored laces in them please share them in this thread.

Here are pictures of a few of my shoes with the colored laces I recently purchased. Please feel free to post your opinion of the pictures as well:

I wear navy laces in a pair of old AE Park Aves. They're my "casual" pair I mostly wear with jeans, occasionally trousers.

I have red laces in my dirty bucks.

Not for business.

Maybe for social occasions. Maybe.

Exercise some restraint, though. This seems to be one of those areas where it's very easy to cross the line into the territory of the ridiculous.

The coloured laces you have shown us are quite tame and you should have no problem wearing these at work. Well done.

You Yanks refer to 'dress' as workwear, while us Brits refer 'dress' to be formalwear; in other both cases, coloured laces are a 'no'.

Smart or casual shoes - it can work; e.g. navy oxfords with dark grey laces.

I wouldn't wear the purple ones in a business setting. The others don't bother me personally.

Not a fan, and wouldn't wear them myself.

I have blue laces on a pair of black shell LWB and red laces on a pair of acorn Stows; they work for me since both shoes are casual. For bals, I still to the color code.

I think the red laces are just TOO much. Never anything I would do, looks too gimmicky but reading the poster above who mentioned he uses a pair of navy laces in casual black oxfords that he wears with jeans/chinos/etc - that is okay.

Would you characterize your interest in colored laces as early Spoo or late Spoo? Pre- or post-enlightenment?

It was pre-rapture in application, however they are still interesting to me - though on others.

I find them theoretically interesting, but practically problematic.

Typically, my fun ends at the sock line.

Tried different combinations several years ago. A big fat no for business environment. But if you work in creative or engineering or some other casual dressing fields, its should be okay.
