Do either of these ties match this shirt?

Still trying to learn what works and doesn't work, but today I picked up this shirt and these ties. Was wondering if either of these ties go well the shirt.

I'm slowly trying to build an adequate selection of work appropriate outfits. I typically dress for comfort which consists of jeans/khakis , t-shirts, toms or slip on shoes (or flip flops when I feel like it) and lack any real style. Soon I'm going to have to step it up a notch and dress nicer, as my job will require me to deal with people more. This means button up shirts and ties.

How'd I do? Eh? I really have no idea how to match ties to shirts.

Both ties are fine. Your knots should be a tad tighter, but I am certain you already knew that. Welcome to Styleforum.

Not really a fan of either of those ties with that shirt.

In terms of color, the blue one looks better with the shirt. That said, you should opt for a long sleeved shirt next time.

I prefer the second tie. I like the color it adds and I prefer the pattern. But I also have to ask about the short sleeve shirt and tie combo???

As far as the knot is concerned, I agree with tightening it a little bit. It looks like you tied a half-Windsor. I would suggest a simple four in Hand knot with that short. It is a narrower know that fill suit the collar of the shirt a bit better.
