Nyc hotels

My internship search brings me back to NYC for another round of interviews from March 18-22. I love staying "downtown when I go and have stayed at the Tribeca Grand and Soho Grand. I like both of these hotels for their various good features, but they have some downfalls as well. Tribeca Grand has a great lounge, but their roms feel like an office to me and it's wide open. Great for people watching, but not much comfort or privacy. The Soho Grand is wonderful, but the rooms were not as updated as the Tribeca and the bathrooms were tiny. Tribeca had updated everything. Soho has a great location, the Grand Bar and a nice staff... In my search for this trip I had wanted to try out 60 Thompson in Soho. I got a great rate online and am excited as I've heard great things about this hotel. So, the question is, what are your favorite hotels in NYC? Stayed at Sixty before? Cheers, Pete

My company has a corporate deal with 60 Thompson, so I've been there a few times. It's stylish, but if you don't like small rooms, don't stay there. It's tough to find big rooms in downtown hotels - there's just not much space...

I just returned yesterday from a one week trip. I stayed at the W-Court on 39th and Lexington. I thought my room was nice, but nothing too great. I prefer the W-New York. I also enjoy the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central. Nice rooms, reasonable price, great lobby, etc.

Thanks for the advice--I don't need too much space, but I really like to be in lower manhatten so i'm going to try out 60 Thompson. GQ Lawyer--funny story about the Grand Hyatt... had an interview at a record company two blocks away from there but went to the area early to pull myself together and go over some things at a coffee shop before hand. Well, wouldn't you know that coffee makes you pee and I had 20 minutes before my interview w/ no bathroom in sight. I trucked it into the Grand Hyatt and tried to fiind their restroom after numerous stairs and elevators... finally found it, hurried to my interview a bit flustered and took a deep breath before stepping in. So much for getting to that area to relax... Hehe--it did seem nice from what I saw I've been meaning to check out the W's but have found good rates at sixty... hopefully another time. Thanks. Pete
