Best pair of sub-$100 Nikes?

Sorry for the sneaker post, I know everyone hates them. I don't know that much about retro Nikes, but I know I love them whenever I see Cheap or someone else wearing them in the WYWT thread. Could someone instruct me on what to get and hopefully where, as well? I'm a size 13, that seems to be a bit of a problem. Also, nothing WAY flashy or hypebeasty.

I also wear a pair of 5000vx's if that helps at all.

Thank you in advance for all of the help!

In terms of retro Nike shoes I'm a fan of the Air Max line, particularly the '97 and '04 models. They're pretty simple and conservative depending on the colorway. You can find them on ebay for around $70 but beware of fakes.

air max 90's...ONLY 90's. Vandals are cool, old 180's, air jordan 1's. But I would be looking for some vision streetwear sneakers if I was looking for vintage styling-just don't skate in them, they'll fall apart.

Who hates sneakers?

cheap is the exception with thrifting; I can't say I've ever found wearable sneakers in a thrift store. If they even have sneakers, it's like all-white Macgregor coach shoes, or something.

I've been keeping an eye out for these kinds of shoes on ebay, and some go pretty cheap, especially if you're willing to go for slightly less-popular models (e.g., blazer lows instead of highs). These might be too, uh, colorful, considering the shoes you mentioned, but there's a pair of "twisted prep" blazer hi on ebay for $40+shipping (not affliated or anything).

Also keep your eye on Urban Outfitters (if you're willing to buy there). They're low on sale stock right now but sometimes carry good stuff, and stock up to 13. Right now at retail they have a clean navy/white dunk hi. They used to carry the Terminators I have.
(Side note, they have the Stan Smith vintage with blue trim for $50 right now in larger sizes.)

Also, Barney's Co-op gets mostly the same stuff as Urban, but it's worth a shot. Lastly, I've never bought from there, but I've heard reports of good experiences with grandism, who have a few nice nikes in 13 right now.

Also, nomovement, if you're an 11 and have $100 to blow...

I like Nike Street Milers. Works great as a "driving shoe" imho. I also have a thing for the old Waffle Trainers. When I think of retro I guess I have trouble thinking of the 80s...to me it doesn't seem that long ago.

Someone at Nike's marketing department should be given the Nobel prize. Five or ten years ago no conscientious person in our demographic (generally, college students and guys in their 20s) would consider buying Nikes. Now seemingly the same demographic that read Adbusters is fiending for them.

BTW, Phil Knight still eats babies.

And puts them on spikes, a-la Eddie Izzard.

I still won't wear Nikes. The closest I'll get is the one pair of Cole Haan boating shoes I own.

Air Force Ones, Air Maxes or the Dunks.

the AF1s are easily found under 100 on eBay. The Dunks and Air Maxes may be a little harder to find under 100.

EDIT: to answer your question: I'd say the Vandals. I don't see those around very often like I see the Pumas and Vans. And I'm also a Nike lover so don't take my opinion so seriously.

Nikes fall apart quickly and are probably made in sweatshops. Ignoring this, however, you can't go wrong with white-on-white Air Force Ones. Nice on their own, and if their too dull, grab some leather paint and a poor and hungry art school grad, and get them to customize them for you, possibly in exchange for a sandwich. Win win.
