Yup, WRX is really a nice car, especially when you consider the price. I too have heard that its a real "driver's car". Maybe a member located in Europe or Asia can comment on this: don't the WRXs in your market come with higher horsepower engines? Something to the effect of 300 horsepower? I think I remember reading that somewhere; from what I recall US WRXs have 220 horsepower. I'm sure Mr. Harris can correct me if I am wrong.

The WRX is a nice car, but for its $26,000 sticker (I think that is right), I'll spend a couple thousand more and get an Audi A4 1.8T

I can't be the only person on here with an SUV? Maybe the only one willing to admit it 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee - V8 Laredo. It's Red by the way. Bradford

nothing of note yet except for a '75 mercedes 280c with red paint and beige interior. i loved her till she died. i agree that the cadillac cts is a cool car even without the special package. the infiniti's styling is a bit too vanilla for my taste. my next car will likely be a volvo or vw passat station wagon. i'm not a wagon guy, but i need the cargo space for an upcoming business venture. as far as dreamcars, nothing beats the ferraris from the early '60s. nothing...

Excuse me? Big deal about which car is faster.  That proves nothing. Subaru's are nice, but I would take an Audi over them anyday. The S4 is also 10 times nicer inside then the Subi buddy. There are Mustangs out there that could also take a Porsche...now you wouldn't say that a Ford is better then a Porsche now would you?

It's all a matter of priorities. If looks, interior quality, social acceptability etc. are more important than how a car drives then the Audi is the better choice. Not that the Audi doesn't drive well. But when you are in the driver's seat as much as I am, then how the car drives is of paramount importance - everything else has to come in second. The Subaru has a huge advantage over the Audi in that area, which is why I chose it. They are very safe too, which is nice too know since I greatly fear car accidents...

This is true. I just honestly could care less if one car is faster in the 0-60 category then another car. Obviously we all want to have performance, and I would want to as well. However, just because one car is a little faster then another car doesn't make it a better car, unless you plan on racing people at every stoplight and stop sign. The WRX is definetely the best performing car in its class, but I like to look at the overall picture; not just performance, but styling, interior design, quality and safety.

Agreed. Funny thing is, when I bought my WRX, I had no idea that the 0-60 time would blow away anything else in its class (I wasn't considering any of the other sports cars so I didn't know how fast they were.) I knew it was fast, and liked that, but I was more interested in the handling. The AWD, fairly stiff suspension and excellent steering make for a car that responds quickly and predictably in all weather conditions. That's my idea of a safe car - something that can get out of the way of, or move around a dangerous situation instantly. I don't want to have to wait for the car. My driving was a 50/50 split of twisty, dangerous, 2-way mountain roads and highway/city driving in heavy traffic. The WRX was the perfect car for the job. With less body roll and more low-end torque it would perfect. That's what they did with the STI. Too bad it's so ugly ..

Hey, ugly is a relative term   Besides, I have seen cars that look ten times uglier then the WRX.  Cars such as the Pontiac Aztec and the new BMW 5 series come to mind. I am dreading the day when BMW replaces the current 3 series styling, as I am sure it will look something like the 5 series.

For daily driving around campus and such, I've got my car, which is a 98 Mustang. It's a great car, but it's way too expensive to fix stuff when it gets broken. On the weekends, I get to see my true love: a 1992 S10 extended cab. I've had it since I was fifteen, and have sunk more money into it that I care to admit (more than the Mustang.). It's not a practical street machine, but it's not really meant to be. I'm trying to get it ready for some car shows this summer, but who knows? It's "black"...well, parts of it are. I've done some bodywork (both repairs and a little custom stuff), so it's actually several different shades of primer, with some of the original basecoat showing through. It doesn't really have an interior right now, I pulled it out to do some molded fiberglass and custom stereo work. It may not look the best right now, but there's no feeling like pulling up to some guy who's bragging about their "lowrider" and hitting a couple of switches just to watch their jaw hit the ground almost as fast as my truck. It barely qualifies as a vehicle anymore, it's almost like a full size remote-control car. Alright, I'll stop my rambling now...it's just that everytime my baby gets mentioned, I can't help myself.

I second that, 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Overland... Don't give a flying FcUK(that stupid FcUK this FcUK that advert just came to mind) what all these enviromentalists say I love this car; added bonus the very spacious backseat for any extracurricular babe acitivities =)

I would like nothing more than a McLaren F1.  McLaren Cars has the last unregistered F1 for sale now.  Asking price: $1.7 million.  It has 140 test miles on it.  It's been sitting in the Park Lane showroom, and they're selling it to make room for one of the old F1(XP5) prototypes.  The Mercedes SLR McLaren seems like a nice car, but I wish Mercedes hadn't bought the TAG McLaren group.  I also wish that they would have made an engine like that of the F1(engine by BMW), which was not turbocharged.  The Ferrari Enzo has an awesome engine which has no turbos.  Mercedes bought McLaren while the F1(complete with BMW engine) was still in production, and while the original intent was to produce 300 cars, they stopped at 100, including just 64 road cars.  Some say this was due to lack of demand(unlikely), while others say it was becase Mercedes didn't want to produce a car with a BMW engine.  It's absolutely depressing to think that some of the 100 have been totalled.  One was totalled by a former chairman of BMW, some on the racetrack, and probably a couple more on the road.  Jay Leno owns an F1, and Ralph Lauren owns two, which I remember seeing some time back in an advertisement for Raplh Lauren Purple Label.  The road-legal F1 LM(just 5 were produced) had an engine which produced 668 HP(standard road model produced "just" 627) and went from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds. My birthday's later this month; anyone want to send me a present?

I have a 1990 Honda Accord that is a complete money pit.  (I take public transportation to work so it is not worth it to me to get a nicer car.)  Today it failed the Virginia safety inspection, meaning I have a humiliating "Rejection" pink sticker on my windshield and 15 days to get it fixed.
