What are your impressions of the DM Manton Chukka? I want to get a pair, but after experiencing the split in my Orsons after 2 yrs use, I'm apprehensive

I dunno the quality, but for the price it might be worth the risk.

Well, here we go,a few years after the first post of this thread and i am looking to buy my new Docssmile.gif. Its been since 1992 that i got my last pair.

I had enough with the sports shoes in the US. And to be honest i miss Europe . So what a better way to remind me my days back home?

So are there any sales on line to get a pair of Docs now days?

PS: I have custom made Dead Kennedys cuff links for when i wear a suit, but i need my Docs for every day.

Computurd... Make sure you get the Solovair monkey boots. They're cool. I wear my normal size. I also have a pretty narrow foot. The oxbloods look great.

I'm thinking about getting my first pair of Solovair Gibson's, 3 eye. I have two Solovair pairs already: My Hawkins boots and the Monkey Boots. Looking forward to my Gibsons.

Hi all, this is my first post here on Styleforum.

Yesterday I found a pristine pair of black 10-lace Docs in a second hand shop. They were cheap, and turned out to be made in England. I haven´t ever really worn boots in public, but I was wondering what clothes I could combine them with. It feels nice to have shoes that are a bit more substantial. I found this photo, and it seems like a nice look to me. I plan on trying on my grey trousers with the Docs in a similar way.

Any basic do´s and dont´s concerning Doc Martens and what to wear with them would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

Edit: I apologise for the double post, I got an error message and my post did not show up at first.

anyone having an experience with the monkey boots made in england from oki ni?
cant find them on the martens site, are they exclusives, if so, how is the quality?
they look great and the price is great!

Those look exactly like the Solovair build (same factory, right?) sans side stitching. I like/want.

Solovair monkey boots are sick. I've worn mine very hard for years and they still look great. They're tanks.

Wow, this thread is old, but the topic of Doc Marten has a way of getting people to look back, mostly to the teens years. Having grown up, and broadened my knowledge, I have come full circle and now have a Re-newed appreciation for quality made boots! On that note, I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with the "For Life" boots?

Also, if someone could tell me the name of the insole, that doc marten used back in the day, and in the vintage line… the leather patch in the back, with the footbed stiff as a board until they mold to your foot…

Anyone have any thoughts on the removable insole style vs the old style?

I saw many younger still wearing DM shoes on the street. Now, the production is go to China or Thailand isn't it! Anyone knows
