I'm not keen on the whole outfit, but the suit is really splendid!

There was some talk in one of the recent Manton threads that gun check is not appropriate for linen or fresco. I believe Unbel said he just commissioned a SC from Mina in a cream and blue linen gun check and he was met with a lot of gruff feedback. Curious, for those not in on that initial conversation, how everyone else feels about gun check in linen or fresco. For reference, here is a bespoke example from Lander Urquijo.

I'm not 100% sure if my coat is all linen or a linen blend. But I think the pattern is similar to that coat. I will have it in mid-Sept, will post then.

I think it makes for a nice casual/weekend jacket. Then again I'm a pretty universal proponent of gun club, so regardless of the material, I'm usual on board.

Not at all. I have a pretty heavy cashmere/wool blend close to the image below. I wear it through fall and winter with flannels and a solid blue cashmere tie.

+1 to be honest I associate gun club check with heavier garments.

I would have thought that was a tattersall. Is tattersall a variant of the gun club check? Or vice versa?

With the exception of gingham I can't think of any jacket pattern that is particularly summery
