I like the Facebook comments; it could almost be a selection of SF replies.

I think Brooks will struggle to simultaneously attract old codgers and young hipsters. RL manages it through a careful mix of different lines and different price points between the lines (as well as different retail locations/formats). I'm not convinced Brooks can adopt that model successfully but I suppose we shall see...

Very insightful Hold. I think also part of it has to do with RL being a much younger line, born in the 60's & 70's catering to young folks. Brooks has a near 200 year history to combat and for most of it it has been American Business conservative. They did decently with Black Fleece, which was a twist on that conservative past that many long time BB customers kind of shrugged off, but placing stuff like this under their regular label is suspect. I can see a younger/JCrew like diffusion line in the near future. University?

Suede oxfords, probably a new blazer if I can afford it. I have to replace 2 saint james shirts that were ruined.

I think at this point in proper unemployment, my freelance writing won't be able to support the decadent lifestyle I want.

In short my wish list has become very modest as the reality of no money is imbedded into my forehead.

So what's on people's wish list for fall?

2 pairs of wool odd trousers, 1 which should be charcoal
1 trenchcoat with liner, possibly Grenfell from the Armoury or a Burberry one

... wish I had something more interesting to share...

I think I need more SNS Herning (cardigan or sweater). And winter boots: maybe shell (cigar would be nice) wingtips with rubber soles; suggestions?

I've already been shopping, so my list is whittled down a bit.

I'm still looking to acquire a navy cashmere V-neck and two pairs of gray flannel trousers. Now that my weight loss is complete, I'm thinking about these for my first commission. I'd love to try Ambrosi. Any local suggestions for trousers in NYC?

^NOBD - Meermin has some rubber-soled wingtips and has been getting pretty decent reviews.

It's looking like some simple replacements for me. My old beater of a navy suit needs to be replaced, finally. And I could use a new brown, non-tweed sport coat. Replace some shirts, and that's probably about it, really.

Like Stitchy, if I can go 1 for 3 here, I'll be surprised and happy.

Have 2 flannel pants and 2 tweed pants due from Epaulet this fall.

Commissioned a winter overcoat in 90 year old English fabric that should be done by Halloween.

A couple of pair of boots on order (Navy shell Carmina medallion brogued captoe, #4 Alden WTB)

I guess not really a "wish" list, since these are all happening, but this is what I want for this fall. Would have liked to have added a tweed or flannel suit in the bunch, or at least a tweed sport coat, but this'll do for now.:D

Thanks, I'll check them out. I like the one pair of Trickers that I have a lot (navy suede derbies). Meermin is also interesting, but not being able to try them on is a problem with my feet. The exact boot I imagine, in cigar shell, might be difficult to find. Brown calf could be an option too, though.

I guess I'll either have to fly to Naples or use a local tailor. (Seeing as the savings is generally $300/pr in Italy, commissioning in Naples almost seems like the way to go if you get more than one pair.) But that's why I asked for local suggestions.
