I'm sure construction/quality are great, but they look a wee bit off...

Yeah, just noticed that they seem to taper a little bit. Not good, but the material's pretty nice, a nice shade of olive, and all the inside seams have red lining.

+1, You could probably have the inseams altered to a slimmer thigh and straighten the legs. I've done this to a few pairs of pants now - it's pretty easy.

How much did you pay to get that done? It seems to be a major procedure, and so I'm thinking a little on the high side.

I did it myself. I've heard of people having it done for about $15-25 I think - you could call an alterations place. Basically you just sew a long, mostly straight seam on the inseam a little further in, rip the old one out, and press it. You don't usually need to cut off the excess, but even that isn't much work. Sometimes it requires redoing the hem, if you go down that far. It's really not very involved.
