FML, I just realized the way I roll in EG has a long way to go... ffffuuuu.gif

So what's the material like on those "knit" jackets, anyway? Sweater? Sweatshirt? Thick? Thin? I've wondered about this too long; I must know!

(Also, if someone could kindly shout or PM the cheapest place to find one today [Wed] that would be amazing, thnk you, thnk you...)

It is very lightweight, very soft to the hand, slightly textured and really more a thin, fine knit, not a sweater-like consistency. A very cool piece and the jacket certainly was the piece I looked at the most, but for some unknown reason, did not pick up. I got the Porter shorts in the fabric though. Unsure if and where it is still around.

Fycus, his name is Iain and he worked at Outlooks for men in Victoria earlier. Very nice dude and I've ordered from him before. He also runs or ran an independent clothing label called eng•lish. They made some shirts with neon green details if I remember correctly. I think he recently adopted the looser typical Japanese EG anti-fit (big pants, long shirts etc). Looks very good.

Mbaum explained it pretty well. Temps here were low 70's last night and the knit jacket was perfect, not too heavy while I was walking around, its nice and airy. I felt like it was one of the standout pieces (definitely stand out material) from the SS14 collection. I own the Porter shorts in this material as well and they are great.

You can also try Gary at @Drinkwaters for the piece as they may have the size you are looking for and they are currently running their EG sale. That's who I picked mine up from, great service.

@noob - I told you to buy it at TBS when it was $89! Quit sleeping!

I picked mine up from Gary last week and I'm in love. You should check with him. Now if anybody sees the matching shorts or pants in a M/L let me know okay? I'm in love with the fabric.

How funny. Small world. I ordered my very first EG piece from him. Had no idea about the great looks he puts together. There is some inspiration right there.

FYI, I browsed a few of the usual retailer last night and Porter shorts in knit are still around here and there. Don't remember sizes, but a 2 min Google search will bring them up.

Thanks Mike I will look into it! Care to comment on sizing? Indigo & Cotton Claims the XL's waist is a 16.25 crazy.gif Do they stretch?

Right now I'm waiting to hear back from Haven. They have a pretty handsome price on the round collar shirt right now...

I would go true to size. I think we are pretty similar in pant size. If the 4 orSlow fatigues fit you well, I would go L on the Porter. They are loose fitting, very casual.

The material, given it is more a true knit has some stretch to it by no means though will permanently stretch out (Unless you abuse the shorts). They have an elastic waistband a draw string and button and zipper. Go figure ... L measurements:

  • Waist; 15.5 unstretched up to 18 stretched
  • 12.5 - 13 thigh at the seam
  • 9.5 leg opening
  • 10 inseam

I would echo true to standard size. I'm a small in most clothing tagged S,M,L etc. and took a small in the Porter shorts. For reference, I'm usually a 32 in EG pants/shorts (cinch shorts/pants, cambridge shorts, etc.).

Bureau still have the trousers in a L if you decide against the shorts. https://www.thebureaubelfast.com/shop/2012/navygrey-wave-jacquard-knit-essex-pant.

I picked up the patchwork cardigan which uses a bit of that fabric, which I think is really cool. Kinda regret passing on the waistcoat in the wave pattern when I had the chance now.

Thank you mike. Sounds like the L or the XL would work for me - very glad they have an elastic waist band. I presumed they did but couldn't see any pictures of it.

There was a waist coat? I thought I only saw the hooded zip vest? I like the pants but I'm not sure If I would like how they drape/hang and their movement. Maybe after another price drop I'd be okay with it. sly.gif
