Call people "nephew" instead.

Or we could call 'em "cuz."

Total derail (see what I did there), but I miss these :

You can get your old-skool token fix with these, Spoo:

I know one of those "comfort shoe" guys is laughing and saying "If you wore cheap comfort shoes, you would have more money to buy gas."

I just clapped at my computer screen. Well done.

As to OP, I don't think I ever really noticed shoes until I started to care. I was aware of atrocious looks, but if something was "meh", I never knew. Now, though, I'm able to recognize and appreciate decent attire. For example, just yesterday, I met a guy that was wearing what must have been walnut AE Strands (w/a 1970s Appreciation star turtle neck-ish shirt...ugh).

Basically, I think it only matters if other people can appreciate it. Ignorance is bliss!

After graduating a couple of years back, I acquired a basic work wardrobe of 4 (crappy) suits, but had the good sense to invest in two pairs of Loake 1880s. Given the climate where I live, I had some Topys put on both. Last year, after 1.5 years of heavy use (using each pair every other day), new heels for both. With weekly or bi-weekly care with Saphir Renovateur and cream polish, I think the shoes look better than they did out of the box.

Anyway, a couple of promotions later, I recently upped my semi-casual shoe game by springing for a pair of C&J Hallams in espresso suede. And I'm in love. They fit like a glove: my foot is in contact with the upper practically everywhere, but this is in no way unpleasant - rather it feels like the shoes are massaging my feet. I actually feel like taking an extra round around the block because walking in these shoes feels so good :slayer:

But this puts me in an awkward position. All the other shoes in my wardrobe - the Loakes, couple of RM Williams chelseas, a single monk which at the time was the best feeling shoe I had ever worn - feel like crap. And my most expensive shoe is also the most casual. And I feel a sudden urge to buy every 348 lasted shoe in the C&J catalogue. Damn you, SF.

I expect - nay, I demand that this line be adopted by C&J on their website to describe the fit

Or maybe it's just that the leather on all my previous shoes has been so stiff that I've come to expect blistering and pain if my foot is in continuous contact with the upper. But the Hallams feel very soft and comfortable, despite being snug.
