Need Some Help Picking Out A Tie!

I'm stumped at picking out a tie for the following combination. Any help would be appreciated; pictures and suggestions too! It's the J. Crew Aldridge Suit in wheat FYI. My first instinct was a solid purple but I'm not too sure.

Don't put that shirt anywhere near that suit, nor a tie.

Agreed. It's a very very casual shirt.

Are you saying the style is casual or the pattern?

Both.

+100

Abort the mission. The probability of success is near zero.

This seems to be a common mistake. I had an employee who would show up constantly with a sport shirt and tie. Nine times out of 10 the tie would be showing under the collar and the collar would close at the front on top of the knot. Some of them didn't even have a collar stand.

I didn't have the heart to tell him it looked horrible. I also didn't know how to broach the subject.

read the "how to wear a white dress shirt" thread before deciding on this.

Choose another color aside from purple it just overpowers the suit.

First off.....I would wear that shirt with that suit. If you want to do purple, do purple but a very light purple. For the tie I would do a dark color (navy blue, black, etc)

Or even better do a light blue shirt with a dark purple tie
