How about this for a no-square look?



Not the best pic but the jacket is a cream base with navy & yellow check.
Coat is from some old school British maker that stats with a 'C' I think, keep thinking Carroll & Co. but I don't think that's it.
Tie is PRL
Shirt is TM Lewin

All of which were given away 3 years ago.

that suit is too much for me and I am not a fan of mutli color stripe shirts, so its hard for me to say anything positive about it. I guess the pattern scale works, but I still find it way too busy. Tie seems nice

FYI, Carroll & Co. is a famous Beverly Hills retailer, clothier to the stars for like 60 years, that gets a lot of private label stuff made in England and Italy. The jacket does have a certain Old Hollywood aspect to it. I think it would look best with a white shirt and solid black tie, Doc, if you are reading this, see, I am not as inflexible as you think.

I really don't like the pointed ends look, perhaps because it reminds me of the cheap ensembles I see all too often (the matching tie-square, pre-packaged, pre-made editions).

One way I get around that is to do a modified TV fold, with the contrasting edge above the breat pocket and slightly askew.

even tho the jacket has a cream undertone and the check is navy? (bad pic)

Barima! Not too sure it it was Chester Barrie. Maybe it didn't even start with a 'C'. But I do know I wouldn't have found the coat or given a second thought to the name hadn't it been for SF.
