Then as soon as he stands up straight, reality hits and his shirt collar will slide under the lapels and it will look nothing like whats in the picture anymore.

Don't know if this has already been said, but, if you look at the colour spectrum, black only work with grey and not with colours, and white works with few colours. Even colours like navy would look better (colour-theory-wise) with a light blue shirt. This is one of the reasons seeing navy suits, with black shoes makes me feel nauseous, and makes the wearer look like a n00b.

I really like a white shirt with light grey trousers, a washed-out burgundy-ish red tie and black shoes. The problem a lot of people do with this, is match white with red and black only--not with the blending grey. Plus, red is almost always too bright, when paired with black and white.

I prefer navy ties with a light blue shirt too, but what about a light blue tie? It looks best on a white shirt IMO. Sugarbutch's picture above is a good example...

And I strongly disagree about black shoes with a navy suit...

Of all of the n00b things I see people on a daily basis do it is most frequently pairing the wrong shade of brown shoes with navy suits. It will always look 1000x worse than the proper black shoes navy suit combo.

I personally hate light blue ties. They remind me of favors at baby showers or something. Just not my thing.

Light brown with dark navy, dark brown with lighter blues. It's that simple. puzzled.gif
