How to wear a white shirt - Page 17

You really think a blue shirt would look better with a purple tie, rather than a white shirt?

Tweed + OCBD

700

I can´t imagine what's wrong with this...

Dark Navy suit, white shirt, dark brown belt and shoes. What color(s) tie works best?

This seems to break the rule of navy suit/white shirt and BLACK shoes.

deep purple tie, light blue shirt, navy suit - looks fantastic in my opinion. white shirt works only with this if you have a dark skin tone.

A white shirt is probably the easiest thing to wear and the most versatile one whihch you can pair with everything in your closet. We shouldn't over analyze it. Pair it with a grey or navy blazer, jeans, or slacks..whatever you prefer.

I spy a very high end white shirt for an excellent price. Only trouble is that it has french cuffs and a hidden placket, much like a tuxedo shirt. But no ruffles or ornamental stitching on the front.

Would it be unwise to wear it with a "citified" business suit? Would the hidden placket look too formal?

The kind of shirt I'm talking about:

I don't think that would be a very good idea, particularly if your tie moves a fair bit. If you wear a tie bar that would keep your tie covering the placket, then you might be able to make it work, but I'd still hesitate.

But it's not a tuxedo shirt? I honestly don't like this if I'm forced to chose it over a shirt with studs or one with buttons. I think it looks good however in this image.

Not sure if it's officially a tuxedo shirt.

What about with a regular tie?

I disagree. Go for it. You'll be only one who knows, notices, or cares.

EDIT: I was responding to the first comment about the hidden-placket shirt.

No one notices let alone cares. They be too busy admiring your 2" cuffs and dub monks. Unless there's a typhoon on in your office or whatever your tie will cover the placket anyway. And shouldn't all iGents be wearing a jacket and buttoned up over it anyway? The tie isn't going to move. Talk about over-analysing.
