I wasn't addressing fit, I's addressing the coat's silhouette.

No, I didn't. Two outfits, almost same top half.

However you want to classify lapel critique, it has nothing to do with color, pattern or texture combination, which is what this thread is intended to focus on. As stated by Manton, in the quote above.

Very well. My apologies.

If I had a banhammer, I would wield it.

Gents, I was hoping this conversation would lead us somewhere useful, but instead it's become tiresome. Critique is welcome but sniping is not. If it continues down this path, I'm going to take a blowtorch to all of it.

Please forgive the odd angle... The lapel notches aren't as high as they seem. But the pic gives a good indicator of what I was going for on a warm, sunny day:

What would you pair it with? Something like cream colored flannels? I don't think pairing it with a very light grey would come off too well.

Pattern on the jacket isn't anything crazy, but if you're going to go for a grey odd jacket I suppose it should be something along this line.

I don't think a yellow tie works with a grey suit.

The PS displays two cardinal sins - the colored edge perfectly matches something in the outfit (in this case the suit) and is worn in a neat point fold.

Yeah, try that tie with a navy suit. I have a couple yellow ties and they look nice with a navy jacket and pale blue shirt. I'd only wear yellow ties on a sunny day though (no matter if summer or winter)

is it fair to say that no yellow tie can succeed in this thread?
I don't like them, but I think it would go too far to say that they are categorically in poor taste.

Bright colors are tough, at least in a business setting. Easy to look garish, and hard to combine In a nuanced fashion. But I have some dark "old gold" ties that are workable, and I quite like bronze, copper and rust ties in the right (often fall) context.
