Quick Good Taste Question:

Is there a correlation between fabric weight/thickness and distance of the pick stitching from the edge of the lapel? What's the golden ratio for this?

I'm getting two jackets made from 370g flannel with a new tailor and he asked me about my preference in that matter. He does it by hand and the surcharge is negligable.

I'm not sure there is a correlation between stitching and weight per se. Rather, it seems that the difference is between formal and informal. I see double stitching/swelled edges usually as reinforcing devices on tweed, linen and cotton sports jackets. I'd find it difficult imagining it on a worsted or flannel suit.

There's a difference between pick stitching and double stitching. The first can exist without the second. The second would be uncommon on a suit. I think you want a single row of pick stitching right on the lapel edge. If you add a second row, this would typically be a swelled edge on a heavier fabric, but just a second row on a lighter fabric.

Ready for criticism.  I believe some details here will not be good taste.

Bold choice of tie and shirt to run for office in.

Suit and square are probably unimpeachable, right?

jimney, no, not by the standards of this thread.

That tie is in far too stark contrast. Is the shirt lilac? The suit looks charcoal, and if that's the case, I would say that's also a miss. If navy, it might be okay.

Definitely. Tie is too bright, and the lilac shirt (is it lilac, or is that just a camera issue?) doesn't work.

Where's Doc to DH again (or any other DH). Speaking to my fellow noobs here, seriously guys if you read through the early posts you should know when your stuff is well wide of the mark. Then don't post it here.

It is a camera issue... it is a light blue.  I believe I set the white balance incorrectly for the lighting.
