Thanks for getting this thread back on track A. If we delve into Naziland again I'm going to start deleting posts.

Its just a FIH knot, but the tie is pretty thick (it's a Vanda wool / silk blend)

Might be the first time in my long and not-so-distinguished SF posting history that I've gotten something on track, so thank you!

I like that a lot, Big A - even though tie and PS are matchy, the outfit really works as a whole, which is something you don't see often.

dopey - that may have been the first time i have seen the word "diyuk" used on SF. bravo. perfectly used as well.

Looking good Big A; I myself don't find the ps and tie too matchy but would prefer a different 'poof' of the PS. The cloth looks marvellous and the coffee table is 'amazeballs.'

Yep I was going to say mid, or even dark grey trousers with a darker brown shoe (chocolate suede maybe) would have looked better. But it's not bad, when you consider how hard a green jacket (and the Masters connotations it brings with it) is to pull off.

I liked it earlier, and I still like it. Looks good, RDiaz.

Thanks for all your comments, gentlemen. I suppose the point I was driving at is whether blue trousers can ever be worn tastefully. All aspects of fit/style aside: i think with a wine tie and dark brown shoes, this colour combination would be difficult to fault (albeit an unusual combination). Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Moo, that top half is really nice -- more complicated than what I'd be able to put together every day, but very stylish. I kinda feel like there should be more contrast between the coat and the trousers. Sub in light gray trousers, and it's very much the kind of look that I aspire to.

 

Regarding the "can navy trousers ever be worn tastefully" issue, I understand that one of the threads that started the anti-navy trend had a thesis closer to "navy trousers are never as good as the right shade of gray would be" -- something I can get behind. I'd have no qualms about pairing a tan or light gray jacket with navy trousers, though. In fact, I'd rather have navy trousers (especially a lighter shade, like in the photo with the green jacket) than really dark charcoal gray ones.

I wonder if the effect here isn't more flash than you intended. The DB blazer, the double cuffs, the contrasting square, the light brown shoes. Lot going on, at least for this thread.
