One solution would be to use more length by tying a double FIH or half/full Windsor, but this will make the knot bigger. The best solution would be to shorten the tie, but it is not necessarily worth the cost. I doubt tall people have ever run into this issue.

That would be awesome if the back blade was tucked into the waistband and then taken out through the fly.

Rock out with your blade out.

I'm 5'9" and I have never had that issue, particularly not to that extent. You have to work at getting that back blade like that. I wouldn't be surprised if the people who wear their ties like that buy ties longer than normal/then they should just to get that effect. Before the internet machine, I never, ever recall seeing someone with 3 inches of back blade showing.

They definitely buy extra long ties; unless they're 5'2".

just tuck the back blade into your shirt or fold it up on itself a bit and pin it

I don't know why but I'm 6'2" and I still end up with ties that are too long. Not a pencil neck either, around 17". I think I tie them quite tight and wear my pants high.

I am 5' 10" and I have a number of ties which are too long for FIH. It must be nice to have RTW tie made to your exact specifications. spam[1].gif

How high do you wear your trousers? At your belly button, with, pardon this, the fabric almost touching your crotch?

Ties used to be shorter. I have a number of old Dunhill and Drakes ties, and they're all about 55-6 inches long.

Don't forget that Asians tend not to be particularly tall, plus these people wear their trousers high.

Usually at the belly button or just below. They are made with a high enough rise so as to avoid any crotchal discomfort.

Trust me, the back blade hanging 6 inches low like a silk cock is totally intentional - do not feel sorry for this man, as if he got some sort of raw deal with a RTW tie, an innocent buyer who got home and said "oh my bosh, the back blade is crazy long". No. The man's suit is bespoke; his tie may very well be bespoke as well. In any event, nobody does the silk cock look unintentionally - this is the "it took me a full hour to get this 'devil may care' look" at its finest.

That seems strange. I wear my pants even higher (I like a snug crotch, elongates the legs), and I'm just 5'7", with a 15 inch neck; yet I usually get just 3-4 inches of extra material if I tie a FIH on RTW ties. And I like my tie knots rather tight too. confused.gif

You make a good point. How else is one to get a snug crotch but with a tight knot? teacha.gif
