Well, this sort of tie is probably not the most versatile, but since I wear odd jackets most of the time, they kinda make sense. And would work with all of the shirts I wear now, which are either solid blue or fine blue and white stripes. In that context, they would be rather versatile. I can wear my dark red Drake's madder with my entire wardrobe, for example 

 

I want to get one or two large neats like yours and the navy I posted above, a madder, and a wine or brown knit.

I don't mean because it's a neat, I mean that the colors, while not loud exactly, aren't really subtle either. The tie in your avatar is a much better kind of tie for someone who has 10 of them. Anyway, I'm not trying to discourage you from the tie, which I obviously like or I wouldn't have bought it - it's a beautiful piece, you'll be glad to have it I'm sure.

Makes sense, in fact I'd like the tie better if the red was darker - I might ask Patrizio if that print is available in a darker red, or otherwise different colours altogether 

 

It wouldn't be one of my first 10 choices either, but I like it so much, I think I should order it before he runs out of that cloth...

Yea it's really more towards purple than red anyway. But it's not quite purple. Not sure what exactly this color would be called.

Wine?

Some shade of burgundy/wine, I guess? Burgundy is between red and purple...

^yea probably one of those two. It may not be the "perfect shade of wine", but it'll do.
