I certainly hate those two.

This is what I think of as very English style.

Checks on shirts are not that useful IMHO. Tattersalls are good casual shirts, and go well with country clothes. But I rarely like a checked shirt in a business context, unless it's a micro-check that looks solid from more than 1 ft away. Stripes are way more useful, if you're going to start going beyond solids.

I assume you are referring to mine? I wasn't sure about the lilac check with a suit, but a regular blue check is bad?

yeah, too large, too spaced out, too much white in relation to the blue.

It's a casual shirt, not a suit shirt.

I did wear it with an odd jacket today. Is it too casual for that also?

Maybe the forum could do with an "educate me about shirts" thread. I certainly could.

I think so. Certainly the combo does not fall within what foo and I would consider "good taste."

It's the kind of shirt that, when worn with a tie, remindes me of a 1980s HS teacher. So, the tie really should be polyester knit. Jacket should have leather buttons and elbow patches. Shoes should be Hush Puppies.

I could do with a pocket square thread also.

interesting, thanks. i thought the oxford weave shirt would be "textured" enough for the rough SC and tie.
thanks, i recall you liking it last time i wore it.
yup. i know foo will hate the trou.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

You have a color and brightness problem. Things need to contrast harmoniously. Here:

interesting. i like what you did with the pants. i have a pair exactly like that i will wear next time, and i think i would like a shirt slightly brighter than your change. i do like the tie better as is however. the jacket IRL is actually as you have it, not as it shows in my pic.

most importantly, WHY DID YOU NOT PUT THE "FOOFED" STAMP ON IT!

Is either of these 2 better? Also, what are your thoughts on contrast collar shirts (white cuff and collar, blue/white bengal stripe, for example)? I would have thought that these would be looked down upon, but Foo gave someone wearing one 5 foo.gif earlier in the thread.
