Any thoughts on this? Stepping out of my comfort zone with this so any feedback would be appreciated.

That's what I was worrying about. I commented to Sugarbutch a few days ago about that very issue since he seemed to mix textures like this fairly successfully.

Would you say that a flatter silk tie would be appropriate? I could easily have paired this with a wool tie I think, but I'm trying to figure out how to pair silk ties with more casual SCs. As mentioned above, Sugarbutch was the inspiration for this, but I haven't quite been able to get to that level.

A knit or a wool would have been my first choice but I am trying to challenge myself with figuring out a silk option.

yup, i would certainly sat a flatter, more matte silk could do just fine. wool or cashmere is the obvious choice, but you could do it with teh right silk too.

I'm pretty new to the forum so I have been keeping my toes out of the advanced dressers pond.  But I've been enjoying this topic- my first thought was knit tie along with everyone else:

I saw this outfit while in Scotland and snapped a pic on my phone.

I'm anxious to try silk with tweed as well.  I hope you find a nice pairing.
