1. It requires the author to be dedicated to reading WAYWRN and to be dedicated to updating his thread, and it needs to be someone of the quality to know what belongs in the digest. That is not an easy task.

It goes without saying (but I will say it nonetheless), I think digests and "best fits" depositories are great, extremely useful and often inspirational.

You're both right that it takes dedication and time (not to mention self-motivation because it seems like a complete one-way street to be very honest).

I have mentioned many times, and I guess I will say it again: I'm happy to continue my "best of" thread and I think that it would be both time-efficient and also a bit more interactive and motivating if people could nominate outfits in the thread and I will only keep the ones that I think are best.

That, of course, implies that nominators are happy with me curating the thread according to what I think is good.

Another way to go about it would be to have people nominate outfits and then thread viewers could vote with thumbs and I would only keep fits with over 15 thumbs for example - number TBD

Or we could go with a mix of both - I'd use the highly rated fits as basis for selection but will reserve the right to keep some that I think are great (even if not highly rated) or kill some that I think are not great (even if highly rated). <--- probably my preferred approach

I would personally like this particular thread to go back to some form of self-policing rather than a random dump of "is this good?" posts and pictures. As I believe Manton wrote in the first couple of sentences of this thread: if you're not sure whether it's in good taste, it probably isn't. Share only what you're particularly proud of, and that will make the conversation more meaningful. Use regular WAYWRN and WAYWT for feedback requests.

That's just my 2 c

Good idea. Would you consider including SW&D?

Looking forward to whatever you come up with!

This, I believe, should be the spirit of this thread.

I don't have an opinion on this topic

Yes of course. I don't really believe in these barriers. We all have weekdays and weekends - some of us have more formal dress codes than others. At the end, what looks good looks good, whether it's tagged formal, CBD, casual, "SW&D", fashionista...

That said, this thread is no longer about people posting things and declaring them to be good, it's now become people posting things to ask if what they've put together is good. Which makes me wonder how this differs from WAYWT. Are people posting there not with the implicit question of "is this in good taste?" Not that there's anything wrong with a thread changing direction. That's happened with every other thread on here, after all.
In any case, if this thread isn't serving its original purpose, I think MC could use a good WAYWT digest. Vox used to do one, and GDL now maintains a not-so-oftenly-updated one. I nominate you!

Too much going on. Because the sportcoat is patterned I'd go with a solid tie.

Merry Xmas guys-  a pic,  good or bad taste, u decide, to get things back on track.  Taken after the ballet last night, family tradition at this time of year for us.  Happy I didn't go black tie, would have stuck out like the proverbial.

^^ I don't know if it's the lighting but I'm not crazy about this one. The colors look flat and uninteresting in those combinations, trousers seem a bit long, and I'm not crazy about the tie.
