Interesting to read that, and some comments above. I think it was last month when I read GQ Style Guy (Glenn O'Brien) say something similar, that he didn't like the term "pocket square" and preferred the term "hankie." I thought he was crazy, so imagine my surprise when I see you iGents saying the same thing. To me, that's like calling a cufflink and cuffiedoodle. We clearly take care in how we appear and approach it with some level sophistication, particularly those here; I don't really think it serves any purpose to dumb down the term.

Just for discussion purposes, I'll let you know that, if anyone asks, I tell them I'm wearing suspenders even though in my mind, I always refer to them as braces. They're the same thing and I'd consider it fussy to draw a distinction. A pocket square and a hankie are two very different things, IMO.

cross post from tailor and thrift threads but this southwick suit just came in the mail from another member I think it fits well/is in good taste except lengthen the sleeves a little bit and hem the pants + waist suppresion. my question for this thread was do you think it is tasteful? I am wearing a white cutaway colar white linen pocket square black captoes and a black tie that seems pretty inoffensive to me but I will let you be the judge

MoP buttons good taste?

 

had the jacket made a couple weeks ago intended as summer/wedding jacket.

 

jacket has twin vents, is unlined & each lapel has one key hole button hole. Peak lapels are 11.5cm wide (~4,5 inch)
