I tend to wear blue ties like that only with gray suits, or at least not with navy.

Yes, I think it's bad. Country suits are excellent to gather dust in the back of a closet. I speak from experience. They never feel appropriate since I rarely go grouse hunting in Scotland. Stick to city for suits and sport coats for country.

noted, i hear that. it is all theoretical at this point really, not something im jumping at, as there are more pressing "needs" at hand. smile.gif

This picture makes it 100 times easier to judge taste/congruity. Everything looks quite nice.

I enjoy wearing my brown herringbone suit. As much as I enjoy my blue donegal and gray flannel PoW suit. And I wear all of those in the... city.

+1. I live in a city (Washington DC) but I'm in academia, which is associated with country clothing. I have a brown suit that has shown up in this thread a couple of times, and I will likely get a flannel PoW suit in the future. I kind of enjoy wearing stuff like that that differentiates what I'm wearing from all the dark suit/white shirt/shiny tie crowd from the Hill. But I can see how in some other professions they'd get very little use.

Yes, I understand that as well. I consider them casual suits more than country suits. I wear them for pleasure, not business.

Can't tell if the tie is too close or not far enough away from the jacket, but I'll give this an 7.5. Maybe an 8.
