I, as a man with a non-flat ass, favor the side vents, but I don't have a default objection to center. The sacks from BB and J Press are iconic and center-vented. Plus, y'all will give Lufty a heart attack with this line of thought.
It doesn't matter in a robopose frontal pic, but clothing is 3D - from the side and in movement, a well-fitting side-vented jacket looks much better than a single-vented one. Add to the mix a hand in pocket and it's not even a fair comparison - the center-vented coat looks like a hot mess.
My legendary physical conditioning insulates me from this unseemly phenomenon, I guess.
Thanks! I have a medical reason for only owning slightly above the knee length coats
You have no shins?

I've never understood the emphasis on vents here. Unless your ass is as big as a house I don't see how it could be an issue. Come to think of it, if your ass is as big as a house, it won't matter how many vents you have.
Besides the movement issues GDL points out, I think it's just personal taste on how it looks. I much prefer double vents generally. I just think it looks better. Thus, it is fact that it does.

Gents- I hope you don't mind if I ask this here but I need a good opinion within the next 2 hours from people with good taste.
I have a brooks brothers corporate discount for today only and I'm picking up a suit. The problem is the only double vent suits they have are regent fit which have low armholes. The fitzgeralds fit better but are single vent. Are single vents not worth getting/in poor taste? Would I end up regretting the decision? Thanks!
Yes, it's super good. I think SB is my favorite poster for this awesome consistency: the harmony is always there, regardless of the outfit.
And who makes the tie? It's something basic but the execution and finish is flawless.
Damn, fellas. Thanks. The square is Robert Talbott, and the tie is Barba.
