but the more casual, chunkier khakis/chinos, that always look a tad bumply, those are always best served with a cotton SC of a similar vibe.
just my opinion.

I don't agree with this. I might be woefully mistaken, but a sportcoat should be casual by definition, and I would only call a solid color worsted a "dress SC". That said, there are some chinos that might be too much in the casual side to be worn with a SC, but I don't see Burton's as one of those. And textures should go well together as well. I think the flash in the picture is making it look discordant because of the shine it creates on the jacket.

I would go mid-gray or darker with the bottom half.

feel free to disagree. smile.gif

i dont think a sportcoat is casual by definition. it is more casual than a suit, but less casual then most chinos/khakis. and in this case, while i dont think burton looks bad, i think the 2 pieces are discordant. no biggie.

i know the feeling, and have done the same. best stick with your gut. smile.gif

also, if indeed it has less lustre, that does make a difference. those things are hard to capture in pics.

What about paired with a collegiate sweatshirt and worn during a picnic in the park?

Touche. I'd say for Harvard and Yale it's still acceptable, but if the sweatshirt in question pledges allegiance to one of the lesser nouveau riche Ivies, then no.

I hope everyone realizes this is a reference to a previous photo posted on SF, and my comment is 100% in jest.

I did not read that far back. Retract "barf" and replace with "I like your blog".

I wore basically that same outfit last week (exact same tie, Rubinacci Mediterraneo pocket square, almost certainly not as nice a suit). thumbs-up.gif

Guess I must have learned something from this thread.
