That may be true - probably in the same category as suit with no tie. In Paris, suit with no tie is a staple look - far more common than SC + odd pants.
Also a staple look in the hedge fund and private equity worlds. It's an abomination. And in Europe, they do it with white dress shirts, which is even more boggling. I call it the 'happy hour' look. It's about as unimaginative as you can get.
I like 's combo, but if I could change one thing....I'd make the neat pattern on the tie circular or floral or something, not diamond-shaped as it appears. To me it's a bit too many straight lines between the jacket, shirt, and the tie. Needs some dots or other curvy lines to balance it.
