1) This tie is awesome (despite edmorel's protestations).
2) Eh.
3) No. It's a Kent Wang Linen white ps.

@ GDL that's a slam dunk.

I was kinda joking. Tie is not awful but in a smaller scale would have been better. Also, it comes of as green and cream, not sure if those are the colors. I don't really think it works with the striped suit though.

My philosophy on buying stuff is that you never really find the best stuff when you're looking for it. You usually stumble upon stuff you like, and you should just buy that stuff right then. Going "shopping for XXX" has never yielded the best results for me.

That said, I just took a quick look at Drakes and Capelli's sites and here are a few that I would wear (if I didn't have similar ones)

The first one actually falls into the "stumbled upon something I like" category so I just bought it. Thanks for enabling ! Third one, I bought from NSM a while ago and wear often.

I know the question was directed at gdl, but to me one requirement for a good neat is that there's enough ground showing. If the pattern is too big so that it crowds out the ground, it's no good.
^ the one on the lower left is my favorite of those. looks great. the top left is nice, but that's about as little ground as I'd ever want showing. The ones on the right I like less just because red and green always makes me think Christmas. And I don't like red that much in general.

But I definitely second gdl's advice on Drake's and Capelli, both have great collections.

Stitch, for the one in your pic - I don't know if it's just the photo, but to me it's too shiny. But I generally favor more matte ties, especially when the colors are kind of bright as these are.

+1, and the red in the tie is glowing, but that's probably just the pic. Of gdl's pics, I'd endorse all but the green with blue flowers.

well that is a bummer, but i have found that to be true in my shopping travels as well now that i think about it.

thanks! you see, i would have only thought to buy #3, maybe. the rest i would have never translated into looking good. that is the issue i have with neats. the ones i think look good, end up being shnasty when actually worn, and the ones i pass on, i think are the ones i should have got, and would have been more useful/in better taste.

my pleasure ! smile.gif

maybe these can count for stumbled upon for me, but i dont think i can/need to buy all 4 at once. slowly slowly.
