I think some people want to see a curated WAYWRN thread because they want to get ideas for combinations that they can do themselves, or so that they can just have pretty things to look at. That's all well and good, and there are threads like that. TRINI's thread, gdl's thread, Vox's many roundups. Basically in wanting to turn this thread into such a thread, you just want Manton's version. Which is fine, but not the original intent of this thread I think, nor the way in which it could provide the greatest value to the forum.
Instead, I think of the thread as a no-BS zone, where if you post a fit, you are willing to subject yourself to severe criticism, and take it like a man. Also, you are assuming the aesthetic that is pretty clearly set out within the first few pages of the thread.
Up to a certain point, the thread does not lose value by having fits in poor taste posted IMHO. If it becomes all bad taste, that's a problem. But even a sizable share of the fits posted being in poor taste is fine, as long as they are shouted down and harangued by the arbiters of good taste. It is a shame that
and whnay haven't posted fits in a while ITT. But gdl is going strong, as well as others that have posted nice fits in the past few pages. I think anybody can read through the past few pages and note through comments which fits are good and which bad, and in some cases, why. That is a successful threak IMHO. The thread loses value only when those with good taste lose the energy to play whack-a-mole against bad taste.

thanks un, excellent example.

no hate, but, while that may be a nice side thread, i do not think it should supplant this one, or that this one should shift in that direction.
1. i find it doubtful a thread like that could have any real longevity with only a half dozen posters. they will get bored, tired, and run out of things to post.
2. it is very hard, for me anyways, to learn only by seeing success, and trying to copy it, or do it on my own. i find the trial and error with earnest and clear criticism to work better for me.
just my opinion.
