Funeral today?

Would stripes be in good taste at a funeral?

Beautiful fit, BTW, @Cleav

Depends on where you live, I think. What I see here would be perfectly acceptable where I live.

Tie is linen. Jacket is herringbone, in a wool/linen/silk blend.

Tie is linen/silk blend. Wheat and blue are the stripe colors. Looks slightly purple in the picture, but it isn't. Blazer is hopsack.

You are uninvited from my funeral

People need to be quoting, so we know who is being referred to. Also, constructive criticism is always helpful, rather than short unhelpful dismissals of posted fits. I know this thread is struggling, but this doesn't help things. I'd like it to keep going if possible.

Read the rules of what Manton posted in the first few pages. Try to get some contrast in terms of textures and print between the shirt, suit, and tie. Also, the ties you post are hideous and need to be burned. Check out www.vandaclothing.com for some time decent ties.

I've definitely read those posts, and I've even read Manton's book. I don't find my texture variance to be a problem... Cotton twill, oxford cloth, linen, silk/linen/wool blends (with a good amount of slub), hopsack, are all present. They are certainly tamer summer textures, but variance nonetheless.

I do think its unfair to call the ties hideous. The ties are good quality ones from Brooks, and only one of them has a "louder" pattern, but it is in conservative muted colors. I have nicer quality ties, but these are old stand-by's. I don't think the busier one is any more hideous than something in madras would be, and madras can certainly be in good taste if done well. The brown tie admittedly photographs poorly, but it is indeed conservative colors (brown ground, with wheat and light blue crosshatch), which in person seems to pair well with the shirt and jacket.

I'm not trying to be arguementative, or even defensive. I appreciate the feedback, and just want to understand so that I can improve.
