I think most in the thread will say so because pinstripes are a business pattern.

One last try, kiss it or diss it?

1) is probably fine. I don't like the tie - it's a little too garish (and probably wide) for my taste. That square doesn't work with the tie and it kinda has to since there isn't a lot else to go on (solid, mid-grey suit and white or lite blue shirt aren't things to which you really match a pocketsquare). Also a pure red like that square is better with shades of blue than with grey.

2) that shirt is ugly. The scale is just too large. Blue gingham is fairly classic but the scale needs to be smaller (even if it's going to be a large gingham) and it would be better with a blue suit (ideally) or at least a considerably lighter grey). Square works but you're showing too much of it.

3) again red and mid-grey aren't a very good combo. If the accent stripe in the tie were burgundy, you'd probably be fine. Navy square with white border rarely works.

Foofy did a good job w/ accesorizing a similar suit:

You guys are tough. The gingham shirt actually goes well with my complexion, and looks ok with the suit. A better picture might do it justice. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I can't really say anything about the other two outfits I thought they were solid. Oh well. I guess that's what finding your style is all about, trying different combos until they mesh.

Similar tie as outfit 1, does this outfit work better?

He pulls it off, but, no, I'm not keen on the combination there.

yes, this thread is tough. sometimes brainless, but always tough.

in any case, i dont hate the gingham shirt as a casual shirt, but that large a gingham with a suit is a no go for me.

I like them all, lord. Not completely crazy about the scale of the gingham, but I don't hate it. You Did The Right Thing with the solid dark tie.

You guys are a bit much, here is the pattern of the offending shirt. It really is a bad picture. Some of the colors of the outfits go better then what they appear. My iphone photography apparently isn't up to par.
