whnay.'s good taste thread - Page 74

I think poorsod's pictures may offer LTI the most help yet. This odd jacket is for Fall, and the shirt/tie/trousers need to embrace that.  I think we also suffer from the angle and limited perspective of the photos LTI has provided -- we're looking at a horizontal slice across the torso and cannot step back enough. Certain features seem exaggerated.

ROT - I like both of those, very nice. Only very small quibble might be the textures of the suit and tie in the second pic seem to be a little close. But maybe the suit isn't as nubby as I'm imagining it.

RD - definitely good taste for an evening wedding.

Thank you very much

The jacket in the second picture is a pretty smooth herringbone (linen-silk-wool blend I believe, can't really remember). The tie definitely has more texture than the jacket - but I agree it may be a little too close

Thank you - it is a great casual tie. Drakes unlined, untipped raw silk

In the first set of pictures, I realise that it is difficult to make out what I am actually wearing. It is a RAF blue fresco suit, a very fine sky-blue stripe shirt, and a knitted navy tie with sky-blue dots

Thanks. Do you think this kind of tie would still look good with a pale pink or sky shirt? The white one in the picture (which is the only white shirt I own) has become one size too big and I'm not sure I want to wear it again. I've tried the combos on a hanger and I'm not convinced they are good taste at all, but it would be good to have some more opinions smile.gif

It had to be tied a bit long, otherwise the thin blade would show... pants were hiked up quite high too. It's not as long as it appears though, I was kinda slouching in that pic tounge.gif

very well then, but you can always tuck the thin blade in your shirt between the buttons to hide it, and get a proper tie length. smile.gif

Tucking the thin blade is a lesser evil than a tie that goes down to your crotch though...

I don't mind if the thin blade shows a little. Much prefer that to an overlong tie.
